ChinaCarbon.net.cn, March 31, 2016: The Guangdong emissions exchange reported China’s first forward contract agreement for carbon allowances on Monday. The contract was signed between two unnamed cement companies for the delivery of 70,000 allowances in late April.
Guangdong is the first of the seven pilots to allow forward trading of allowances and CCERs. Contracting parties must be members of the exchange and all contracts have to be negotiated over the counter. Shanghai and Hubei have also announced that they would launch forward products on their respective emissions exchanges.
